Rooms And Their Uses

Room: a separate part of a building, enclosed by walls... -en.wiktionary.org

Since the idea of multiple rooms emerged, there have been two basic types of rooms: living rooms, which we live in, and storage rooms, which we store things in. When we try to combine these two concepts, a disaster results. I have seen rooms which could be quite useful as one become hazard zones as a result of their being used as both storage and living area.

If you need a room for storage, designate it for storage, and keep it that way! Put all of your rarely used but neccessary items in your storage room and free up the space in your living area to really live! Be sure you haven't unconsciously created a store/live area; watch your living room, dining room, kitchen or bedroom for piles of stuff, stacks of boxes, or any unused items, and when you recognize them store them or throw them away. Always remember, it's not things that make you happy, so only keep the stuff you need and use often.

Finally, organize! Everything stays neater when it's organized, whether in a storage or a living room. Take the time to decorate your rooms with a few of your favorite decorations: be sure not to go overboard though, a little looks better than a lot most of the time.
